Smile of the Day

Life is getting much too serious, yes? Who doesn't need a daily smile?

Sunday, May 14

Only in America ...

  • can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.
  • are there handicapped parking places in front of a skating rink.
  • do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions, while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
  • do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet Coke.
  • do banks leave both doors to the vault open and chain the pens to the counters.
  • are cars worth thousands of dollars left in the driveway while useless junk is put in the garage.
  • are answering machines used to screen calls, while call waiting ensures no call is missed from someone no one wanted to talk to in the first place.
  • are hot dogs sold in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.
  • can be found drive-up automated teller machines with Braille lettering.
  • does the word "politics" describe the process so well: "Poli" (Latin) meaning "many", and "tics" meaning "bloodsucking creatures".
