Smile of the Day

Life is getting much too serious, yes? Who doesn't need a daily smile?

Financial worries

When his son started courting Bonnie, a fine lass just the other side of Edinburgh, Sandy was concerned about the cost. Again and again the son would arrive home after a night of courting to discover his father waiting up for him. "Can't you sleep, father?" he finally asked.

"No, son, I can't," said Sandy. "I keep thinking about how you are out spending money on such foolishness."

"Why father, we only spent a dollar tonight."

Even Sandy had to admit that was not too much.

"Well," explained the son, "that was all she had."
