Regurgitated facts

A somewhat advanced society has figured how to package basic knowledge in pill form. A student, needing some learning, goes to the pharmacy and asks what kind of knowledge pills are available. The pharmacist shows him a pill for local history. The student takes the pill and swallows it and suddenly has a wealth of factoids about local history at his fingertips. "What else do you have?" asks the student, and is given pills for biology, art history, grammar.

Having taken all of these, the student then asks if there is a pill for math. The pharmacist tells the student to wait just a moment while he goes back into the storeroom. He returns with one whopper of a pill and plunks it on the counter with an audible thud.

The student stares at it dubiously: "I have to take that huge thing for math?"

"Well, you know math always was a little hard to swallow."
